MACHE website Privacy Policy

There are two classifications of membership to consider: Web site members and MACHE members. Web site members are not required to qualify for MACHE membership in any way - neither by faith nor by the practice of home schooling. MACHE members have all professed (in writing) to a similar Christian faith on specific core issues, and are all engaged in home education of their children. Both groups have privacy concerns that we will attempt to address here.


MACHE members:

MACHE publishes a monthly newsletter that is distributed via email and postal mail to members, with the only exceptions being former members, or those who place classified ads. Complimentary copies may be given to members of the community who request them, or they may be given to families interested in MACHE or homeschool. MACHE will attempt to limit any personal information in the monthly newsletter to that necessary for the group to function (e.g., Activity Coordinators will have names and phone numbers listed in articles relating to their activities).

MACHE also publishes a member phone directory, with addenda published as needed throughout the school year. This phone directory is regarded as a private members-only document, and we ask our members to never share the directory or its information with any non-member. Members may not use the directory to solicit business from other members without prior consent (MACHE members may place free classified ads in the newsletter for their businesses).


Web Site Members:

Membership to MACHE's web site is open and free to anyone who wishes to join. Members are expected to maintain a helpful and respectful presence on the site, and any content judged as abusive (at the sole discretion of the MACHE web administrators) may be cause to revoke site membership.

Personally Identifiable Information (PII) is collected by the site, and we protect the confidentiality of that information as if it were our own - and in fact, we have entrusted our own PII to the site during signup just as you have. Your PII will not be sold, rented, or disclosed to any third party for any reason. We may use the information you provide to send periodic emails or other forms of communication related to MACHE activities. At no time will your information be used to distribute business solicitations or other types of junk messages. Upon your request, we will remove your PII (and your free web site membership) from our web database.


Technology Used:

This web site makes use of 'cookies' - small text files that help us identify our site members and repeat visitors. Some spyware detection software reports all cookies as 'bad', but this is not true. Cookies cannot harm your computer, and only in the worst cases do they even come close to violating your privacy. Cookies are typically not worth worrying about. The best spyware detection programs will flag only the most egregious cookie abusing sites.

MACHE's web site also uses JavaScript in a few places. If your browser allows Javascript, you are exposed to slight additional risk of computer virus infection or privacy violations. Most browsers will prevent Javascript file downloading, and also stop scripts from popping up unwanted advertising. We primarily use scripts to obscure the email addresses that are posted on this site -- it helps keep spam and junk out of our email boxes. Javascript is not innately dangerous, it requires malicious intent by the script writer, so your best defense is to stay on mainstream sites, or use the features (or add-ons) that turn off scripting for sites you have not approved. Most modern browsers do a good job at protecting you from hacker's scripts.


Advertisers and Third Parties

The MACHE.CC web site may display advertising banners, logos, or links. We do not share your personal information with anyone outside of MACHE. These outside vendors may collect information according to their own privacy policies, including the use of cookies and the collection of aggregate data to help them target their ads to those more likely to be interested. MACHE will do its best to not host ads from vendors with potentially abusive data collection policies.

Google ads on this site adhere to the constraints above, and provide an opt-out mechanism via the Google ad and content network privacy policy.
