MACHE operates this web site for the local community and for our members. We want everyone to know how wonderful it is to home school - and the great results our families are achieving.

Some of the content on this site is available without subscription, but the best stuff is accessible only to those who sign up. Join the web site for free today, or better yet, join MACHE and be a part of the fun!

Even if you are not a member of MACHE, or even a homeschooler, we invite you to sign up (for FREE) as a site member. Joining this web site will let you post in our forums, download MACHE documents and information, and view our photo galleries.

If you are also a paid MACHE member, there will be additional private content just for you -- updated phone books with the latest member's info added, downloadable newsletters, and complete access to upload and download photos of our kids learning and having fun.

 Park Days are Starting Up for the New School Year!
Park Days begin Friday, August 20th!

Let's meet at Dennis the Menace Park in Midland at 10 a.m.

The park has a fenced in playground, a grassy area for sports, and restrooms.  Bring your bottled water and sports equipment and spend an hour or two hanging out with new friends!

 Warriors Basketball Practice Begins

The program is open to home school boys and girls in 6th - 12th grades.

Basketball will begin Monday, August 16 at Sherwood Baptist Church in Odessa.  We don't have any fee amounts yet, but there are papers that will need to be filled out and returned.

If you have any questions call Bob Edwards at 425-5986 or Kendle Edwards at 425-8208.

Girls: Monday & Tuesday 6:00 -8:00 pm at Sherwood
Friday 8:00- 10:00 am at Cotton Flat Baptist Church in Midland

Boys: Monday & Tuesday 8:00-10:00 pm at Sherwood
There will be no Thursday practice August 19 or August 26

Be sure to bring plenty of water, we will not have access to the kitchen.

Girls, please dress modestly!  No tank tops, shorts need to be at least finger length and if they are baggy, wear spandex underneath.  Please don't make coach send anyone home for dressing inappropriately.

 Choir Director Needed!
Permian Basin Home School Choir

Due to health issues, Mr. Laney will no longer be able to direct the choir, so we need someone to take over.  If you or someone you know might be interested in directing the choir, please contact Kendle Edwards at 620-0564.  The director does not have to be a MACHE member.

 DVD available - Ready, Set,...Now What Do I Do?
MACHE has purchased a DVD from the Texas Home School Coalition called Ready, Set,...Now What Do I Do? by Tim and Lyndsay Lambert. The DVD answers new home schooling families' questions about the legality of home schooling, curriculum choices, and many more topics! It is available for checkout.

MACHE Members and non-members may check out this informational DVD.

 Family-friendly Google searches
Google is a powerful search engine that helps you find just about anything. The only problem is that sometimes you can accidentally find undesirable sites among google_logo.gifthe useful ones you intended to find.

The clever folks at Google have a solution for familes who want to use their search engine, but who also don't want the bad stuff that sometimes makes its way into the list of results. SafeSearch is their answer, and we have it here on the MACHE web site. It is still not recommended to let your youngster do unsupervised searches, but SafeSearch eliminates the most offensive sites from the results pages, making the Internet a little safer for you and your family.

Try it today, or bookmark the MACHE site and come here first when you need to do a web search. All the great Google features work, like Google Maps, dictionary, etc.

Quick Tips:
Dictionary -- type "define:" followed by the word you wish to define.
e.g. define: fortitude

Calculator -- type an equation or conversion to see the results
