My name is Scott, and I'm on the MACHE board of directors. I also do most of the web stuff...

My wife is Steph, my sons are Sam and Sawyer. We chose to homeschool because we felt God tugging us in this direction, and we wanted to pass along our faith to our kids, and make sure they got the whole story about science and history - things that get censored and rewritten in most public schools.

As the parents and teachers, I think we are learning more than the kids -- all the stuff we either forgot or were never taught when we were in school!

Now it's your turn -- put a short introduction and some interesting info. We can get to know each other and then it will be easier to discuss other topics.

Jump in, the water is fine!

Hello everyone! My name is Star Lewis and my family and I are new to the homeschooling family. We have 2 boys that we have started out last week in kindergarden. We are very excited and of course nervous and welcome as much helpful advise as we can get. We decided to do homeschooling due to last years public school disaster and many court dates due to our childrens severe health issues and their lack of understanding. We are looking forward to meeting other parents out there like us and giving our children the opportunities to meet and play with other children like them. We look forward to meeting you all soon and are planning to make our first apperance at the potluck picnic...

Hi! I am Brandie...we are new to homeschooling and I am finding it very easy to get frustrated! My oldest just turned 8 and was in second grade last year in public school...we have had some really bad experiences with the public schools and really felt that God was using the timing to refocus our priorities...so homeschooling it is!

We are in Midland, my husband is a firefighter, and we have two girls: 5 and 8.

I don't get on here too much but am always looking for a way to get my kids out of the house...you guys are also welcome to email me at [email]

Hello Brandie, welcome to the forums and to homeschooling! This forum thing is still pretty new, so not a lot of families are participating yet. I would encourage you to check the calendar on the home page and drop in for a park day - it is great for kids and parents, too.

We look forward to meeting your family sometime soon.

HI My name is Tammy my husband is Jack. We have been homeschooling our teen girls since Jan. 2010. When they left public school for Christmas vacation they didn't go back. They are completeing 9th and 10th grade. We have a monster truck ministry and during first semester we had to out of town events. I was tired of getting letters due to the girls being absent for 2 fridays during that first semester, when we were out doing God's work. We found a great online high school. So i don;t have to do all the teaching, but help them when needed and have time to instill our values on them and also to be able to travel to different ministry events. I have not as of yet joined MACHE but I am really looking into it , due to the fact that one of my daughters really likes to interact with other youth. We are very involved with our Church and the girls are in the youth group and leadership, they also play with the youth praise and worship band. I guess that is about it. Be blessed everyone and lookiing forward to meeting yall.!lol

Howdy, Tammy! The flexibility to take school with you where you go is one of the many benefits of homeschooling... I'm glad you are using that freedom to follow where God is leading. Jump in to the forums whenever you like - we are trying to get more folks involved and talking to each other!

Let us know how we can help and encourage you (that goes for everyone on the forums, too!)
