| Details | No Meeting on February 18th due to State Basketball Tournament. The Permian Basin Homeschool Chess Club will be held every Thursday, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the upstairs meeting room at the Midland County Public Library. We are a non-profit organization and official affiliate of the United States Chess Federation. Our primary goal is to introduce home schoolers to the game of chess. We challenge our players to play their best and to attain greater skill as they continue to play. For those who do not know how to play, we teach the names of pieces and how they move. For younger students and beginners, we go over the basics of the game, covering the beginning games and opening combinations. For the more advanced player, we instruct them in such topics as notation, strategy, and the exercising of pieces to their fullest capacity. There is no registration fee, only a charge of 25 cents for each meeting you attend, which will help provide the club with additional boards and clocks. We hope to see you there, and please feel free to bring a friend with you! Contact: Matt Carr |
